With a virtual workshop, Ottobock brings its wheelchairs to digital experience. The products of the Human Mobility business unit can be explored all the way to their spare parts via a 3D platform.

Ottobock develops innovative products for more than 100 years. At the same time, the medical technology company offers complete fittings. A company that makes people mobile - whether it's prostheses, orthoses, wheelchairs or exoskeletons, the focus is on people and their mobility.

Digital Customer Solutions

"Sustainability, digitalization and globalization are just three reasons for the need for information that can be accessed quickly and from anywhere", says Nicole von Bergen, Head of Marketing & Academy of Ottobock Mobility Solutions GmbH.

With a virtual workshop room, Ottobock is taking a significant step toward digitalisation. The initial focus is on the business segment "wheelchairs" of Human Mobility.

In the future, the virtual mobility workshop will help specialist dealers and rehab technicians to access the information they need quickly and easily. Whether spare part numbers, explanation videos, order sheets, brochures - all product information will be accessible on one platform and from anywhere.

To achieve this goal, Ottobock called on the support of rooom AG. We were able to convince them with our 3D platform experience and flexible project management. The 3D models of the wheelchairs were created from photos - without having to provide 3D data. Our 3D specialists succeeded in visualizing very complex objects down to the last detail.

"With the flexible IT solution from rooom AG, content can be easily added and adapted to different markets and target groups. We always focus on the goal of making the brand and the product more experienceable. There are no limits."

The virtual mobility workshop will initially launch as a pilot project for the UK market. Accessible via a link, Ottobock UK's B2B customers can share and promote the platform via their own channels, for example on their websites or in the newsletter. Using an explanatory video, dealers will receive a starter guide to enter the virtual world, explaining the versatile possibilities of the digital workshop. There are also plans to use it in digital training sessions. Integrated user tracking makes it easy to evaluate visitor numbers and interactions and measure success.

"We are very happy to be part of the project and to take a big step towards the digital future. The feedback from our test users has been very positive so far, which already shows us that we are on the right track," says Helen O'Brien, Market Manager Mobility UK, Ottobock.

The main purpose of the virtual workshop is to support employees in customer service. With a successful launch, the platform will also be made accessible to other markets and supplemented with new products.

We are happy to have gained a great customer and partner in Ottobock and are already looking forward to further cooperations.
