The 3D model creation process is what makes rooom special. To create your very own 3D models, we offer you six different options. For many of these variants, your camera or smartphone is already sufficient as equipment.

How to create a 3D model

  1. Simply use our extensive portfolio of customizable 3D models.
  2. Use rooomSCAN to easily create models and upload them to our platform within minutes like never before.
  3. Use photos of your object that you upload to rooom. To do this, take about 5 to 15 photos from 3 to 4 heights, covering every single angle of view of your object. A special camera is not necessary, but better photos also result in a better 3D model. Finally, upload your images to the rooom system in ".jpg" or ".png" file format.
  4. Use a video in 4k that shows your object from any angle and upload it to rooom. Please note that images always produce better results than video material.
  5. Use a single photo or a link to a product in the online shop.
  6. Use existing 3D data such as CAD from the construction or floor plans of an architect and upload them.

Which data formats can you use?

If you already have 3D data, you can upload them directly to our platform. Please note that there are many different standards in the world of 3D content. With rooom you fortunately have a flexible partner at your side who can handle most formats well. All parametric (CAD) and non-parametric files can be used by you without any problems. These are then converted or processed as required. The data formats .obj and .stl as well as .step are particularly suitable for 3D models.

What works well, what doesn't?

Let's start with what is not possible: Transparency, reflection and monochrome surfaces are difficult for a computer to recognize. A transparent glass does not work. Natural objects ensure breathtakingly good results. Photographing your favourite monument or the face of your loved one usually works very well, especially if nobody wobbles during the photographing. Also helpful are easily recognizable patterns or structures and good illumination. In addition, the object should not be more than five metres away or less than three centimetres.
