Read the news  (German article)

Friedrich Schiller University Jena now has a professorship for business informatics, e-commerce and digital business, which was sponsored by rooom AG and nine other Jena-based digital companies. A program in e-commerce was previously only available in Jena at the Ernst Abbe University of Applied Sciences, where it is now the most popular field of study.

The newly introduced academic program opens up an exciting new teaching profile for the university in the field of economics. Starting in the winter semester 2024/25, the university will expand its range of courses to include areas such as e-commerce, digital markets, platforms and business models. The primary goal is to strengthen the education of professionals in the emerging fields of e-commerce and digital business in Jena.

The financial support of the companies makes it possible to expand and improve the study programs in the field of business informatics. We are also working together to design profiles for dual study programs and scientific internships in IT companies. We are particularly happy that in times of a shortage of skilled workers, a significant step has been taken towards securing the next generation of digital companies.

Thuringia's Minister of Science, Wolfgang Tiefensee, congratulated Michael Wessel, who has already worked internationally as a professor, on his professorship. He endorsed the new position at the e-commerce hotspot Jena and pledged his support.
