Germany doesn't have a Silicon Valley, innovation is decentralized there. According to deutsche-startups.de, Jena is one of the eight underrated German tech hotspots in Germany. Our CEO Hans Elstner was asked for a statement on this matter:
"Jena has the expertise and team spirit to be a beacon of digitization that radiates into Germany and beyond. With over 3,500 employees in more than 140 companies in the digital business and 1,500 professionals in high-tech companies and research institutions, the city is Thuringia's center of concentration for digital and e-commerce expertise. Both emerging startups like rooom and established players like Accenture and scientific institutions like Ernst Abbe University or Friedrich Schiller University form the Jena Digital association as a diverse network that promotes cross-industry knowledge exchange and cooperation. From e-commerce to metaverse, from cybersecurity to data literacy, all topics are represented in Jena - a perfect starting position as a growth-oriented digital location."
- Hans Elstner, Founder and CEO of rooom AG and Vice Chairman of the Board of the Jena Digital Association
