What potential do immersive technologies hold for the broadcasting of the future? The team of the R&D project "SocialSTAGE-VR" spoke about those potentials in a keynote at the Production Technology Seminar 2023 of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), the world's leading alliance of public service media with 112 member organizations in 56 countries. As a project partner, rooom teamed up with other research institutions and companies to set up the opera house in Chemnitz as a 3D environment in an initial test.
For the first time, the demo for virtual theater and concert experiences was presented to the public. Using Virtual Reality, a digital twin of the theater could be visited together with other users in a collaborative application. The current performance of the Theater Chemnitz "The Merry Widow" could be seen.
