Make your company's learning journey even smarter! Here we show you how Metaverse and Learning complement each other efficiently.

At a time when the lack of skilled workers is presenting companies with major challenges, it is becoming increasingly important not only to attract employees, but also to retain and train them in the long term. The need for innovative training programs and effective personnel development is greater than ever. Instead of passive, traditional knowledge transfer, the focus is on exciting, active participation. This is where smart learning comes into play. These innovative concepts combine space and technology to create a unique learning experience that completely redefines learning. The goal? More effective, efficient and accessible learning that actively engages learners. A highlight of this new learning world is the Smart Learning Journey. It provides a comprehensive overview of various learning formats that offer impressive benefits, particularly in the Metaverse. Whether realistic virtual workplaces, interactive coaching sessions or game-based learning experiences – the Smart Learning Journey shows how companies can take their training strategies to the next level.

Smart Learning

Smart Learning is an innovative approach to learning that uses the integration of modern technologies and educational methods to create personalized and effective learning experiences. 1

The five dimensions of learning

Learning is a multi-layered process that is influenced by numerous factors. In her book "Smart Learning Design", Dr. Sirkka Freigang divides the learning process and the learning environment into five dimensions that provide a complete framework. From individual motivation for learning to cultural and didactic influences through to the use of technology in the learning process – each dimension plays an important role.

Learners

The learners are the focus of the learning process. They alone can actively influence their learning success. All tools and strategies can only passively contribute to this success. The goal is the sustainable transfer of content. It is important to take into account the individuality of all learners and to give them the freedom to choose their own learning path.

Culture

The learning culture and structure play a decisive role in the learning process. The way someone learns depends heavily on the cultural background they come from and the learning methods that have shaped them. A diverse and inclusive learning environment that takes into account different learning styles and preferences is therefore crucial.

Didactics

Didactics refers to the methods used in the learning process. Of great importance here is the selection of the right methods that are tailored to the needs of the learners.

Simulations & role plays

Simulations and role-plays are didactic tools that allow learners to recreate real-life situations and act out different roles or scenarios. This method enables learners to gain practical experience and improve their decision-making skills. The use of virtual rooms, 3D models and avatars is particularly suitable for this, as they create an immersive and realistic environment.

Space

The learning space has a significant impact on the learning experience. In the past, knowledge transfer mainly took place in physical spaces, which often offered a rather passive learning environment. This traditional form of learning in real space was characterized by one-sided mediation and limited opportunities for interaction. However, 3D environments open up new possibilities for transforming and expanding the learning space, particularly through interactive virtual spaces. In this way, the learning space can become a place of active exploration and interactive participation. The combination of different elements such as art, music and technology in the virtual space creates an immersive learning environment that encourages learners to become active and realize their full potential.

Technology

Technology now plays a crucial role in the learning process. Examples of suitable technologies for imparting knowledge in an impressive and sustainable way include Virtual Reality, Artificial Intelligence, Augmented Reality, mobile apps and online platforms. These technologies can individualize and adapt learning to fit the needs of all learners. They make it possible to make content interactive and appealing

The Smart Learning Journey

Hybridization, in other words the combination of real and virtual tools, is creating a new type of learning environment. Companies such as Vodafone and BMW are already using learning experiences in the Metaverse to offer their employees the best possible experience. Through smart learning journeys, we demonstrate where certain technologies and tools are most effective.

1. Content Curation

An effective learning environment requires a diverse and appealing presentation of learning content. Videos, 3D infographics, podcasts, quizzes and surveys are often used for this purpose. These different formats enable learners not only to understand content, but also to internalize it in the long term. Boards for joint content creation and screen sharing options also promote collaboration and creative exchange.

2. Live Online Training

Virtual learning environments offer the opportunity to experience content interactively and promote exchange and cooperation in real time. Live online training can include lectures, group work and mental breaks in a virtual lounge.

Dynamic learning environments using features such as chats, avatars and spatial audio enable participants to actively participate and immediately apply what they have learned.

3. Coaching & Mentoring

In 3D worlds, relaxed coaching environments are created that enable focused and target group-oriented collaboration. These virtual spaces offer the opportunity to build connections and emotions through spatial immersion.

This is particularly useful in coaching and mentoring, where free exploration and joint learning are encouraged. Introductions with avatars and collaborative activities such as interactive brainstorming for team development are just a few examples of how diverse and customizable these environments can be.

4. Serious Games

Gamified learning experiences not only make learning more exciting, but also support the sustainable development of problem-solving skills and other key competencies. Serious games allow learners to understand and apply complex topics in a game-like environment.

This not only strengthens understanding, but also promotes motivation and commitment.

Gamification

This method uses game-like elements such as points, rewards, challenges and competitions to motivate learners and improve the learning process. Gamification can increase learner engagement and encourage them to invest more time and energy in learning.

5. Virtual Workplace

Learning Virtual workplaces, such as offices, service centers, production facilities or laboratories, can be edited and filled with e-learning content as required. This is particularly practical for teams whose members are not all in the same physical location. The direct linking of content to the virtual workplace not only ensures effective learning, but also a smooth transfer of learning. Product presentations and showrooms can provide detailed insights for employees, suppliers and customers alike.

3D Learning Space AI – be amazed

This virtual space delivers learning content on the topic of artificial intelligence. It is designed to offer numerous interactive tools and learning resources to support the absorption of information and encourage learner engagement. Upon entering the so-called "AI showroom", visitors are greeted by a welcoming atmosphere. The environment is carefully designed to create a relaxed and focused learning environment with soft sounds and a natural design. The room is divided into seven stations, each of which builds on the others and deals with different aspects of the topic of AI. Try it out for yourself:
