In 2022 we experienced, developed and achieved an incredible amount of things. Despite several global challenges, we were able to celebrate a number of successes. Let’s take a look back at our highlights together!

2022 presented us with several challenges: The year started with a crash of major tech stocks and economic upheaval. The war in Ukraine as well as the energy crisis kept us all in suspense.Instead of the pandemic, we now face the impact of the "endemic" and an overwhelming wave of infections. Despite all that, rooom can look back on many highlights – In 2022, we have established new structures, developed a metaverse strategy, and identified many new applications and use cases for our platform. From retail, fashion, sports and telcos, to healthcare, we were able to implement many successful projects. Here are our highlights:

January

The software development team at rooom is ringing in the year with a firework of new features.A new avatar system, GuessWhere and virtual staging expand our portfolio. The press has rooom on its radar: The magazine "TextilWirtschaft" lists us as one of the top 7 start-ups to watch.

February

With the integration of rooomStage into our platform, we can offer our industrial customers an even broader range of products and services. We are also making great strides in the area of e-commerce with the integration of rooom into Intershop and WooCommerce.

March

After years of close cooperation, the tech company 3DT (3 Dimension Tech) becomes part of rooom. With the help of newly developed 3D scan hardware and software, it will be easier for our customers to digitize even large quantities of products.

April

The nature experience region "natura jenensis" opens its AR experience trails – thereby setting new standards for digitization in tourism. With "Enterprise Metaverse Solutions" we define a tagline that perfectly sums up our product portfolio.

May

We are happy that trade fairs can take place again in presence and attend the OMR Festival in Hamburg and LearnTec in Karlsruhe. The NFT-Pros CREAT3 join the rooom family and support us in the development of Web3 solutions.

June

During the T-Challengewe develop brand new solutions and intensify our cooperation with Deutsche Telekom and T-Mobile US.Another highlight: The e-commerce provider Shopware features the rooom 3D Product Viewer plugin as App of the Week.

July

Our new dashboard makes managing 3D spaces and products even easier. We also offer new possibilities in user management with an update. On top of that, we conquer the fashion world at the FashionTech in Berlin and our AR portal proves to be a true customer magnet at various events.

August

The rooomies from the United States visit their colleagues in Jena to celebrate the company’s sixth anniversary together. Other reasons to celebrate are our first partnership in Asia and the addition of voice chat as a new feature for avatars in 3D spaces.

September

We attend the Digital X, DMEXCO and numerous other events, where we forge new contacts. We also join strong alliances such as the BVDW and the Metaverse Standard Forum.Developments also continue: we work on AI avatars, an integrated payment function for shopping spaces, and new theme worlds for nu.land.

October

While rooomBooks presents a new and improved edition of the AR children’s book "Regentröpfchens Reise" at the Frankfurt Book Fair, our management travels to the famous Silicon Valley. This brings us closer to our mission of making the Metaverse easily accessible for anyone. The Top 100 Metaverse ranking also confirms this.

November

Our partner network is expanding and counts numerous new members. Meanwhile even DER SPIEGEL writes about rooom. Our 3D spaces get a number of new features with screen sharing, movable objects, improved avatar gestures and virtual sticky notes that simplify collaborative work in the metaverse. Our VR application for Oculus (respectively Meta) is also evolving.

December

With Metaverse Escape Games and Volumetric Capturing, we introduce exciting new use cases for our platform. The rooomies enjoy the Advent tables from our traditional living office Advent calendar and a Christmas party in the Metaverse.

From "Meta-What?" to Metaverse

We are following the developments surrounding the Metaverse and Meta CEO Marc Zuckerberg with great interest. For us, a vision has emerged in the last few years that has been confirmed once again:We are working towards an open, easily accessible Metaverse that is web-based and device-independent and creates added value for "real life" as well. And of course we continue to work on this:Our internal task force "Incredilabs" has been reactivated this year and constantly provides rooom with innovative ideas and new technologies. They achieved, for example, that gestures can be tracked via webcam, rooms can be scanned with smartphones, and 3D models can be scaled even more efficiently.

Our highlights and successes are reflected in the numerous awards and accolades we received this year.In addition to our technology, Hans Elstner was also honored as "Best Digital Experiences CEO".We are particularly pleased about the multiple awards we received as a renowned (startup) employer this year.In 2022, we were once again able to welcome a large number of new team members to our company. With the pandemic coming to an end, we were finally able to experience after-work events, company runs, training and education sessions and, for the first time, a family day together.

Our review of the year is also available in video format – get ready to be enchanted:

We’re already getting ready for the coming year 2023 and are looking forward to new projects. Our roadmap includes integrations for MS Teams and Slack, a 3D viewer for the Unreal Engine, learning paths for our partners and so much more. Stay tuned!
